VINITALY 2022: BALANCE
Vinitaly ended a couple of weeks ago , returned from Verona we would like to take stock of our impressions.
After two years of pandemic, this 54th edition of Vinitaly, from 10 to 13 april, it has shown that the world of wine has not stopped: it welcomed over 4,000 wineries and wine producers from all over the world and involved sixty countries. The obligations of contingent access have led to smaller numbers in terms of quantity, but better in terms of quality: we have witnessed a presence more really interested in wine.
WAR AND PANDEMIC DICTATED THE ENTRANCES: IN THE CENTER THE US MARKET, LACK OF ASIA AND RUSSIA
It was the edition that marked the record of foreign visitors in relation to the total number of entries: the 25,000 foreign operators from 139 countries represented 28% of the total of the 88,000 operators present at the Fair, first among all the United States followed by Germany.
It is 5 thousand, instead, the total of missed arrivals due to war and pandemic. In particular, Covid-19 regulations reduced the presence from Southeast Asia, while the war suspended the Russian presence.
WOMEN: BEATING HEART OF THIS VINITALY
From the institutions to the top of the company, passing through Buyer and sommelier, the distribution of male/female roles now seems homogeneous. In wine tourism, it seems that women are the beating heart. And the female presence at the Fair was equal, if not higher than the male one.
Note also evident from the attention given to women of wine, such as our Germana, fair representative of the category, protagonist of some articles in the media of the sector and not, “I am proud to be the wife of a farmer” says Germana “because if there is an honest and highly revolutionary act, which can make a winemaker is “playing politics” through the production of excellent wines, who know how to tell and promote a territory. “And now all forward to the many news that await us, such as the celebrations for our thirtieth anniversary.
